Small-Bite Professional Learning
Professional learning works best when teachers create community, work with practical tools, and move ahead with work that is important to them. So, this summer, trade your beach hat for a hard hat and get ready for our Toolkit Tuesday Workshops! These 60-minute learning sessions allow you to connect with other educators over a specific topic, work with a specific toolkit, and move ahead on your teaching plan.
Toolkit Tuesdays are targeted, small-bite, solution-oriented workshops. Led by WLS' team of expert facilitators, you will be exposed to research-based tools that make learning more global, purposeful, and equitable.

Schedule
Toolkit Tuesday Workshops will be offered throughout the summer in order to fit with your summer schedule. These engaging, high-touch, 60-minute sessions allow you to:
- Engage in learning about a specific topic, led by one of WLS' expert facilitators
- Explore a topic-specific toolkit in a low-stakes, playful environment
- Share ideas about how to utilize new tools to deepen impact on student outcomes

Single Workshop - $95 (can be used as a credit for a Ten Pack)
Ten Pack - $750, including coaching session with WLS coach (can be shared by teachers from the same school)
Workshop Details
World Leadership School’s Toolkit Tuesday Workshops are anchored in the key understandings and competencies at the heart of global education. Each workshop provides access to a topic-specific toolkit, which contains WLS-vetted tools and ideas for easy classroom application and implementation. The workshops are engaging, productive, and FUN! Dates and topics are as follows:
Student Engagement
Gain a better understanding of your students' engagement with a research-based approach and practical classroom tools. This session will identify three different types of student engagement, and offer ideas to target all three. Teachers of all ages will walk away with a greater understanding of their students, and with a toolkit built to engage diverse learners.

Global Education
This session introduces educators to the Asia Society's Domains of Global Competence and shares examples of each of the four domains. Participants will examine their own classroom practice, seeking opportunities to deepen global engagement among students. Using the global toolkit, educators will explore ways to infuse curriculum with global practices.

Risk Management
WLS’ risk management workshop integrates trip design and structure, risk assessment tools and awareness, emergency management, group dynamics, and strategies for integrating experiential and classroom learning. This workshop challenges educators to think in new ways, ask each tough questions, and explore real-life emergency management scenarios.

Reflection

This workshop will get educators up-to-speed on the current research that supports Dewey's assertion, share best practices around reflection as an essential classroom practice, and dive into a reflection toolkit with ready-to-use techniques for students of all ages.

Advisory & Cultures of Belonging
Advisory is the regular time during the school day when students meet in small groups with their faculty advisor to focus on relationships. Advisory should be the human heartbeat of school, but it tends to be uneven and patchy in many schools. With our advisory toolkit, we will explore easy strategies for building, training, and assessing advisory.

Auditing Global + Off-Campus Programs
Explore World Leadership School’s “Phases of World Connected Learning” in order to quickly audit your off-campus programs. Identify bright spots and growth areas as we use lenses of equity, program design, and risk management. Through big picture understandings, identify key growth areas for improving your portfolio of off-campus programs.

Assessment
Before diving back into the school year, this workshop will give you a toolkit of best practices around both formative and summative assessment. Participants will examine their own current assessments, and will work collaboratively to implement equitable assessment practices that meet the needs of all learners. Participants will explore different types of rubrics, and get excited about how new assessment approaches can support learning.

UN Sustainable Development Goals
The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) are a global call for action to partner and solve some of the world's toughest issues. We will explore curriculum that integrates the SDG’s into classroom learning and inspires students to action. Workshop participants will discover new resources, explore tried-and-true approaches, and leave with ideas for implementation.
